Bees are very social animals. They live in colonies with clear divisions between royalty, the queen bee, and worker bees. There are many different types of bees
with very distinguishing characteristics. Honey bees build combs and store honey for winter hibernation. Their wings flap 11,000 times per minute, which makes their
distinct buzz. Carpenter bees look like typical bumblebees but often lack yellow stripes and their social instincts. They are typically one inch in length and can bore
into softwoods. Africanized bees have smaller colonies, which allows them to build their homes in unique places. They have been known to live in tires, crates, boxes
and empty cars.
