Grades 3 - 6: Pest Detective - A New Case
In this six-session lesson, students use the PestWorldforKids.org’s “Pest Detective” game and “Pest Guide” section to write their own mystery. As they research culprits and innocent suspects to use in their new case, students will learn about pests' basic needs, pest damage and how to prevent infestations. (Supports The Pest Detective learning game.)

Students will use the PestWorldforKids.org “Pest Guide” to acquire new information about a specific pest.

Students are prompted to recall their prior knowledge from the "Pest Detective" learning game as well as their own experience. Students share their written work with other students to check for clarity.

The lesson invokes several elements of the writing process including pre-writing (recalling prior knowledge), drafting, revising, and publishing.
