West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Most people infected will not develop any symptoms.. If you do get sick, symptoms can include
fever, headache, body ache, and swollen lymph glands. In the most severe infections, people may have a high fever, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors,
convulsions, muscle weakness and paralysis. Within four years after the disease was first reported in 1999, there were over 5,500 cases of West Nile Virus. Over 325 people
have died.. In 2003, human West Nile Virus cases have been reported in 36 states, with the highest case incidence in Texas.
